This quiz is adapted from an original by the late Fred Warner (University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, NM) which was printed in Anthony Powell Communications #19 (July 1983), the newsletter of the (now defunct) Anthony Powell Society of Kalamazoo, USA.

This adaptation, by Keith Marshall, retains all the original questions but made multiple choice, and thus automatically markable.

Warner introduced the original quiz in these words:

The last time I used Dance [in a graduate course], I devised a very long quiz on all the books, and the class spent an hour answering it. I then supplied the key, and the winner got a bottle of wine. Of course, I did not count the quiz as part of the real grade, and everyone seemed to have fun ... The winning score was 78 ... Each question counts two points.
