The Society is saddened to hear of the death of author Dame Jilly Cooper.
Jilly was a long-time friend of Anthony Powell, and had been a staunch supporter of the Society since is early days and we were delighted by her attendance at the 25th Anniversary Lunch in early June.
It doesn't seem appropriate to review her long and eventful life here, but those interested will find, inter alia, an obituary on the Guardian website.
The Society sends heartfelt condolences to all Jilly's family and friends.
