The Trustees of the Anthony Powell Society are pleased to announce that a Conference, the first since 2018, will be held in Edinburgh, 9–11 April 2027.
The conference's plenary proceedings will begin at lunchtime on Friday 9th and continue throughout Saturday 10th, concluding with an optional conference reception and dinner.
On Sunday 11th, delegates will have the option of a coach tour to the Scottish Borders to visit Abbotsford, the home of Sir Walter Scott, and nearby Melrose Abbey.
Details of registration, conference fees, and a call for papers will follow shortly.
Papers will be especially welcome on the theme of AP and the Occult, although submissions on any other Powell-relevant subjects, especially if connected to Scottish writers, are also encouraged.
The world's first UNESCO City of Literature, associated with writers from Sir Walter Scott, to Sir Alexander McCall Smith, Edinburgh provides a fitting setting for the Society’s first post-Covid conference.
