The Society needs to appoint a new Accounts Scrutineer.
The Scrutineer undertakes a one-time task in the summer each year to check the accounts before they are presented at the AGM in the autumn and submitted to the Charity Commission. This includes the verification of payments against supporting documentation and the checking of bank statements.
No formal accounting qualification is necessary, but a general understanding of business accounts is highly desirable. The Accounts Scrutineer acts in a voluntary capacity, and should preferably be a Society member.
The Treasurer, Mary-Lou Stewart, will be pleased to explain the work involved and answer any questions.
